Atiku Had Over 500 Policemen With Him During Oyo Campaign; I Had None – AAC Presidential Candidate, Sowore Knocks Nigerian Police Over Bias
Sowore was in Ibadan during the week for his campaign activities.
The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, says the convoy of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), nearly “crushed” his vehicle in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Sowore was in Ibadan during the week for his campaign activities.
Speaking during the roundtable and closed-door meeting with the leadership of the 18 registered political parties and their presidential candidates on Friday, the activist accused security agencies of being biased.
According to him, the security agencies have allegiance and loyalty to “just a few people”.
He said, “The last thing I will say is about security agencies, just like someone mentioned. The security agencies have allegiance and loyalty to just a few people, that’s the truth.
“I was almost run out of the road in Ibadan just yesterday because Atiku was in Ibadan to campaign, I was also there to campaign but I had one car. Atiku had over forty and I had no police. Atiku has over 500 policemen attached to him.
“I sent a letter to the police today to provide me police protection because I’m going to Benue tomorrow (Saturday) but they asked me to come back and drop the letter on Monday, how could I drop the letter on Monday when I’m going to Benue tomorrow?
“Nobody should lose up in this country especially those of us who are the receiving end of injustices in this country.”
In December 2022, spokesperson of the Presidential Campaign Council of All Progressives Congress, Bayo Onanuga also revealed how he was nearly crushed to death by a vehicle in Atiku’s convoy.
Onanuga, who described the incident as a “close shave with death” said the happening occurred as he was going back home after visiting Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi in Abuja.
The former managing director of NAN said an SUV in the convoy hit his vehicle on the front passenger side and sped away immediately.
