Man Narrates Being Allegedly Stabbed By Nigerian Prison Officer After Accident Involving Officer’s Colleague In Akwa Ibom

A Twitter user with the man Sleek Sullivan has narrated how an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Centre stabbed him with a dagger after his car collided with a tricycle in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

He said the incident happened on Friday night at Brooks Street, Uyo.

The man displayed the stab wound and his blood-soaked clothes soaked on his Twitter handle.

He said the prison official whom he identified as Unyime Bassey, attached to the Nigerian Prisons, Barracks Road, Uyo, stabbed him in the back and he bled till he passed out, adding that it was later found out that the tricycle rider was also a prison official.

The Twitter user added that someone took him to a hospital in the area where he was treated for the stab wound.

He also urged the prison service to fish out the official who stabbed him.

He wrote, “Anyone with the handle of Nigerian prisons please, their personnel nearly killed me on Friday night. I had an accident and a prison warder came with a dagger to stab me.

“The story is that I collided with a keke on brooks street in uyo on Friday 2/12/22, I and the keke rider came out unhurt. While still recovering from the shock cos my car was almost in wrecks (sic) as you can see in the picture.

 

“Someone came with a Toyota Avensis with registration number Ah 234 Ssm, Abia state. He wore a Corper kinda karki and army carmo (tshirt) and stood on the other side of the road to call me to come, onlookers didn’t allow me stand up from where I was still recovering from the shock.

“The guy walked up to me, draw out a poisoned dagger and stabbed me from the back, I bled till I passed out. Someone took me to majesty hospital on barracks road, Uyo Akwa Ibom state. The officers have been identified as Unyime Bassey working with Nigerian prisons barracks road, Uyo and the keke man who is also said to be working with Nigerian prisons too.

 

“I am calling on Nigerian prisons to purge this men (sic) to the Nigerian police tomorrow for proper investigation and prosecute immediately. make this men (sic) tell them why them (sic) come accident scene come dagger accident victim. I heard they are powerful than (sic) the prison service. Please help me tag Nigerian prisons. I don’t know what those men look like cos it was about 8pm on Friday.”

Responding to the series of tweets, Muyiwa Adejobi, Police Force spokesperson asked the victim to make an official report of this incident.

 “I think the best thing he should do is to make an official report of this incident, and we will investigate into (sic) the matter. Whatever the situation is, since this man has sustained injuries, a case has been established, but we need to look into it objectively. So advise him to report officially, so that we can handle it. Cheers,” Adejobi said.
