PDP Crisis: G5 Governors, Allies Hold Crucial Meeting in Lagos

The allies of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and four aggrieved governors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently holding a meeting in Lagos.

The meeting currently taking place at the Southern Sun hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, also has in attendance, PDP stakeholders including Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo;  Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti; Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River; and Bode George, former deputy national chairman.

Wike and his allies have called for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP chairman to create a regional balance in the leadership of the PDP.

The  meeting is expected to adopt a position on the presidential flag bearer of the party as well as the leadership of the PDP.

The outcome of meeting may be shaped by recent recounciliatory moves by former military President, Ibrahim Babangida as well as former President Goodluck Jonathan.
