The personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested two gunrunners in Zamfara, Northwest Nigeria.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, in a statement made available to SaharaReporters on Tuesday said the suspects were arrested on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at about 11 pm by police tactical operatives.
The police spokesperson said the suspected gunrunners, who include one Emmanuel Emmanuel and his female counterpart Nana Ibrahim were arrested along Gusau-Wanke-Dansadau Road while conveying 325 rounds of live ammunition and one magazine for an Ak-47 rifle.
According to him, the arrest followed the receipt of intelligence about the supply of the weapons from Benue State to an undisclosed bandit camp in Zamfara.
He said, "Spot search by the operatives led to the recovery of the above exhibits. In the course of interrogation, suspects confessed to having engaged in several gun-running businesses with bandits operating in Zamfara and other neighbouring states.
"Effort is ongoing to apprehend their partners and charge them to court for prosecution.”
"The Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf psc, assures Police sustained commitment to protecting lives and property, and urges the public to collaborate with the security agencies in this regard," the statement added.
