Shehu Sani Urges Nigerian Doctors, Nurses To Examine Presidential Candidates, Make Test Results Public Amid Controversies Over Ailments

Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has urged the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the nurses’ association to invite all the candidates for the February 2023 presidential election for a complete medical check-up to settle the controversy surrounding their health status.

The nurses’ association is called the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM).

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, said this in a tweet on Thursday.

He said, “The Nigerian Medical Association NMA and the Nurses Association NANNM, should invite all the Presidential candidates for a complete medical tests, and make the result public. This will settle the controversy over the health status of the contenders.”

There have been controversies surrounding the medical fitness of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the war of words between the camps of two presidential candidates has taken another turn as Atiku’s campaign team has declared the former Lagos state governor unfit for the Office of the President.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council, through its Media Director, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday urged Atiku to clear the air on his alleged ill health while also calling on him to quit the presidential race over alleged corrupt practices while in office as Vice President.

But Atiku’s camp swiftly hit back, saying Tinubu must be suffering from “Parkinson’s disease accompanied with incontinence”.
