Supporting Tinubu not for ministerial position – Nnamani

Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, has said his support for the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is not an attempt to get a ministerial position or other benefits.

According to him, his decision to be with the APC standard bearer was for the overall benefit of the Igbo ethnic group and the South-East region in particular.

He said the Igbo would use their support for Tinubu in 2023 to build bridges across the country, adding that the presidential candidate was guaranteed their support because of his capacity to fix the country.

Nnamani said this at the inauguration of the state and local government area coordinators of the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council in Enugu at the weekend.

“I’m not looking for ministerial position because I have outgrown that. We are doing this in the overall interest of our people.

“Ndigbo are using our support for Tinubu and the APC in 2023 to build bridges across the country,” Nnamani said.

He said the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council did not take the place of the APC in Enugu State, explaining that it was an initiative of the presidential candidate.

He went on to urge the campaign council to ensure that the people of Enugu State understood why they needed to vote for Tinubu and the APC.

“Don’t join issues with people who are resorting to insults. Just concentrate on the goal because this is a very serious business,” he added.

On his part, the state coordinator of the ICC, Gbazuagu Nweke, said a Tinubu presidency would favour the Igbo, just as he stated that Tinubu would still win without them

“Tinubu will win and his opponents know it. If he cannot win, he won’t be receiving these attacks. The only thing they are holding against him is age.

“He will win even without us, but we won’t be left behind. But we’re just complimenting his election.

“He is over-prepared for this position

“If Ken and other leaders can say let’s follow this man, we have to obey,” Gbazuagu said.

He promised to take the campaign to every booth across the state.

Appointed as secretary of the ICC is a former Attorney General of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Nwoga, while former state chairman of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, was appointed as director contact and mobilsation.
