Cheltenham Borough Council has exchanged contracts with The EV Network to build three new EV hubs, bringing a total of 26 rapid charging bays to the area.

The EV Network will manage the sites, which the council said would be located in key car parks to ensure accessibility and coverage.

"This initiative aligns with our vision for a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally friendly Cheltenham," a council spokesperson said.

The first charging hubs will be located at St James Street and Bath Terrace, offering ten bays each, as well as Church Piece car park, offering six.

The ultra-rapid chargers will be 300kW and able to deliver a full charge in 20 to 40 minutes.

They are scheduled to come online at the end of November.

More bays are planned for other car parks around the town from next year.
