Charlie Kirk latest: Charlie Kirk shooting suspect video released - as Trump officials vow crackdown on people who 'celebrate' killing
The suspect in the killing of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk is on the run, with the FBI releasing a video of a "person of interest" running off a rooftop. Meanwhile, Trump officials vow to crackdown on people who celebrate the shooting.

Trump: 'High degree of certainty' suspect is in custody
Donald Trump says "with a high degree of certainty" that the suspect in Charlie Kirk's killing has been caught.
"I think we have him," he told Fox News in an interview.
"I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody. He's in custody."
Trump also said that "someone that was very close to him turned him in," adding a "minister, father" helped in his capture.
He added that the suspect is currently at police headquarters.
How Utah shooting unfolded
Charlie Kirk's event at Utah Valley University started in "high spirits" our international correspondent Alex Rossi says.
But it ended with the right-wing influencer being shot.
Rossi breaks down how the event, attended by 3,000 people, started well but ended in chaos...
What don't we know?
We're now in the third day of the manhunt for the killer of Charlie Kirk.
While some information has emerged, FBI director Kash Patel pointedly left the most recent news briefing without saying a word.
Here are three key things we don't know:
The shooter's identity
Images and footage have been released of a person of interest, but it has not been confirmed whether this is the shooter.
It is believed the shooter is a male and seemingly of college age, and we officials have provided details about the gun they used - but some reports have suggested authorities don't have a definite name for the suspect.
The motive
While Donald Trump, in the hours immediately after Kirk's death, blamed the "radical left", authorities have not stated any motive.
It has been widely assumed by many, but not confirmed, that Kirk's politics played a role in the shooting.
Where the search is being carried out
Previously, authorities said they had "multiple active crime scenes".
They also outlined how the suspect fled from a rooftop, jumped down and ran into nearby trees.
However, it isn't known where authorities are searching, and whether they're looking outside the state.
Vigil planned in London tonight
A vigil for Charlie Kirk is planned in London, later today.
Organised by Turning Point UK, the British branch of Kirk's right-wing youth political organisation, the event is due to start at 6pm.
"All British supporters of Charlie please come to the vigil," the group said on social media.
What videos and pictures tell us about the suspect's movements
Sky News has mapped multiple locations around Utah Valley University campus that track the suspect before and after the shooting took place.
Using photos released by the FBI and videos obtained by TMZ, we have mapped locations where the suspect was on the day Charlie Kirk was shot.
A video emerged overnight of a man wearing the same clothes as the suspect less than 200 metres from the entrance of Utah Valley University.
This man can be seen limping down the road at 11.49am local time, 30 minutes before Charlie Kirk was shot.
The CCTV appears to capture him returning to the wooded area, around this same location, after the shooting took place.
The FBI released a video of the "man of interest" jumping down from the back of the Losee Center building after the shooting.
Multiple images of the suspect place him in and around the university campus, showing his potential route to the roof.
Charlie Kirk's 'American Comeback' tour still not cancelled
Wednesday's killing happened while Charlie Kirk was hosting a "prove me wrong" debate at Utah Valley University.
That was the first stop of what he dubbed The American Comeback, during which Kirk planned to replicate Utah's event at colleges across the US.
Virginia Tech, where the tour was due on 24 September, has told our US partner network NBC News they have not yet called it off.
"The university's focus has been directed on caring for those students who have been affected or impacted by those events," said spokesman Mark Owczarski.
"When the time is right, we'll work with students to help them figure out what they may wish to do next.
"Their immediate needs come first, the logistics of a future event will follow."
The striking similarities - and one identical security lapse - between Kirk shooting and Trump assassination attempt
There were a number of notable similarities, including one "identical" security lapse, between the shooting in Utah and the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, security and defence analyst Michael Clarke says.
"Charlie Kirk was not a presidential candidate, but he was a very prominent figure, he was controversial and there had been threats to him and threats made by his supporters to others," he tells presenter Samantha Washington.
"The thing that's most striking about this assassination is the similarities between this and the attempted assassination of Donald Trump when he was a candidate last July."
Clarke points out that the distance between the shooter and their target was similar in both instances, and both featured "identical" security lapses where "nobody was checking the rooftops".
He also explains:
- The one mistake the Utah shooter made that may help authorities identify him;
- How difficult the shot was to make for the shooter;
- And a "very odd" aspect of his setup on the roof.
