Around 100 Edinburgh Fringe performances cancelled, chief exec tells Sky News
Around 100 performances at Edinburgh Fringe have been cancelled, the event's chief executive tells Sky News.
Tony Lankester says around 100-105 performances were unable to go ahead.
"Those are mostly performances that were due to take place in outdoor venues, in tents, in marquees and so on," he tells Sky News.
He adds: "Obviously, we've had to restrict certain types of performances, those performances that require more aerial work and performance.
"You don't want [performers] to come down in the gust of wind.
"So we're having to be super careful in the way we plan those performances and choose which performances happen.
"But the streets are still buzzing. They are still alive."
Of the more than 2,000 events going ahead, the cancellations represented less than 5% Lankester says.
"We've got to put safety first," he adds.
But he warns he didn't think the worst of the storm had hit yet.
